A Childminding Service Will Be Provided For Children Ages 3-13:

For those of you who have been asking, we are now pleased to inform you that there will be childminding available at the Worship Band Workshop Event on April 28!

The event starts at 10am (registration + morning tea + coffee begins at 9.30am) and childminding will run from 10am to 4.30pm. Children will be welcome to attend the final session, that will conclude by 5.30pm (possibly earlier.)

There are two prices to choose from:

           1) Child Ticket (catered lunch provided) = $15

           2) Child Ticket (bring own lunch) = $5

The catered lunch will include a wrap (gluten free option available), drink, piece of fruit and a small dessert item.

The event is open to anyone involved in worship ministry in a local church around the Sutherland Shire and St George regions.

The 2012 Worship Band Workshop is a high quality, 1-day training event for worship leaders, singers and musicians being held at Gymea Baptist Church (in the Sutherland Shire of Sydney) on Saturday 28th of April, 2012.

The event will be fun, accessible, inspiring and will equip you and your team with practical tips and advice that will help you grow together as you serve God in worship.

The goal of the event is to gather worship ministries from local churches for a day of mutual encouragment and learning. This event is designed to empower you and your team to serve well in your own unique local church context so that you continue to grow and serve God where He has placed you in community and ministry.

At this event, we acknowledge that all churches have different “styles” and “tastes” – we hope to challenge and equip you to be the best worship singer, musician or leader you can be for your church.

The Worship Band Workshop (WBW) is a friendly, fun, inter-denominational event featuring experienced and professional musicians from a variety of musical backgrounds. The team will be providing their expert teaching and training to help you go to the next level in your skills, knowledge and capacity as you serve in your church’s worship ministry.

• The roles of worship musicians and singers in the worship service
• Fundamental relationships in the team (ie. Rhythm and Groove)
• How to “Glue” your worship team together
• Creativity, risk and fulfilling your calling

• Vocalist skills and relationships with other singers
• How to put it all together – maximising your ministry impact

• Dave has performed in variety of musical situations inc. Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Blues festivals, Parachute Music Festivals, AGMF, Joyce Meyer Conferences, Hillsong Conferences as well as guest musician/lecturer at many local church events
• Dave has recorded 3 solo albums, “Taking Ground”, “Edge Of Blue” and “Champion Steps” and has been a producer/arranger for over 30 album projects
• Dave was a founding member of the Prayerworks ensemble and Youth Alive band (1990 – 1996). He was the Music Director for Christian City Church , Sydney Australia (1993 – 2000) and the Music Director for Darlene Zschech (2003 – 2005)
• Dave has travelled and performed , ministered in Australia  US , Europe , Asia , India , South Pacific, South Africa and played on over 400 album projects including Steve Grace, Darlene Zschech, Youth Alive, CCC, Hillsong and many more!
• Dave is currently lecturing at Wesley Institute in Sydney.

The lovely Heather Cooper will be joining the teaching team at the 2012 Inspire Worship WBW (Worship Band Workshop) Event!

Heather is a wonderful Worship Leader with a heart of gold and a wealth of singing experience.

In case you needed any more convincing, here are just some of Heather’s amazing accomplishments:

• Heather has worked professionally as a Singer for over 17 years both locally and internationally with Coca Cola in Germany, The Americas Cup in New Zealand, CTC Cruise Liners for 2 years; the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Town Hall, the Basement, the Metro and Sydney Entertainment Centre.
• She has worked as a frontline singer performing jazz, soul and funk in many different bands, predominately with Sydney based covers band ’Big Radio Dynamite’, supported singers including Darlene Zschech, Guy Sebastian, Geoff Bullock, Marcia Hines, and co-written / recorded songs with jazz pianist Dave Halls on his Coming Home album.
• Heather was part of the Black Stump worship band in 2008 and 2009 and has been a part of the music team at C3 (Christian City Church) Oxford Falls since 2004, sang on their album ‘Presence’ and sings regularly at C3 conferences.
•  In 2006 Heather accepted the position as Vocal Director and Worship Leader to help build the Silverwater Campus for C3 Church where she continues to serve in this role.

The incredibly versatile talent of Josh Bedoukian will be on display at the Worship Band Workshop on April 28, 2012 at Gymea Baps.

With his gifts as a music lecturer, song writing lecturer and drum tutor, he is well qualified to play a number of roles on the day!

Josh is the faculty head of music at C3 college, Oxford Falls and he holds a Diploma of Music, an Advanced Diploma in Contemporary Music and Worship Leading, as well as a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.

With a trained background in Jazz Drums & Orchestral Percussion, Josh regularly performs in venues across Sydney as a freelance drummer and has performed alongside a number of artists such as Erika Heynatz, Charmaine Ford, Dr. Bob & The Amazing Disciples of Groove, Prayerworks, Sante, Steve Ford & The Flange and the C3 Music Team.

He has also performed internationally, including Canada, USA, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand.

Josh’s performance experience also translates to the studio where he has recorded numerous freelance sessions with various local independent artists. He has also performed on several C3 Church live albums including Prophesy, Higher, Lift and Presence, and studio albums True (Prayerworks) and One Day (Sante).

Josh also conducts Music & Worship Leading workshops in churches both nationally and internationally.

Josh is currently the Faculty Head of Music Performance (Music and Vocals) and Contemporary Song Writing at the Oxford Falls campus of C3 College. He lectures in the course extensively as well as being the private tutor for the Drum students.

Michael Meaco is a vocalist and voice researcher who believes in an anatomical and physiological approach to singing and voice education. He has performed in Europe, China, and right here in Sydney, both as a soloist, and as a member of an ensemble. He gives lectures in the corporate world to those who use their voice professionally, operating under the mission statement of ‘connecting a voice, and it’s user’ as well as helping singers develop and excel in their own vocal abilities at local music school, ‘Freedom Music’. Michael has a Masters of Music, with a focus on vocal anatomy and is currently completing his Masters of Speech Pathology at the University of Sydney. He is steadily establishing himself as a respected voice consultant and educator with a love for people and a desire to see those who chose a voice-oriented career succeed in their endeavors.

Michael will be conducting a workshop specifically for vocalists at the Worship Band Workshop training event on April 28, 2012. His expertise will be a valuable resource for any worship vocalist, whether beginner or experienced. He is sure to offer inspiration and practical help that will inspire you in your worship singing.

Charmaine has been heavily involved in worship music, serving as worship pastor at her church in New Zealand, and more recently as MD (Music Director) at Hillsong City Campus. She has also been teaching at both Hillsong College (piano, songwriting) and at C3 College (piano, harmony/arranging, theory).

Not only is Charmaine passionate about worship, she is a highly accomplished musician, performer and composer in her own right. For example, Charmaine is currently performing/touring/recording with Aussie muso’s such as Emma Pask, Gordon Rytmeister, Kristin Berardi, Tim Firth, Evelyn Duprai, Brendan Clark, Jenny Morris, Dave Goodman, Steve Balbi, Alex Boneham, Dave Theak, Joseph Calderazzo and many more.

Here are some excerpts from her professional bio…

With a career still in its infancy, New Zealand-born piano virtuoso and composer Charmaine Ford has accomplished more than most musicians do in a lifetime.

Ford has blazed a trail of awards confirming she is indeed one of New Zealand’s most distinguished jazz musicians. She has released two self-penned albums, which showcase her extraordinary talent. Her sophomore release, ‘Busy Silence’, was awarded ‘Best Jazz Album 2007’ at the New Zealand Music Awards. Ford is the first female instrumentalist to receive this accolade. Her debut album ‘Blues for Guppy’ was also a finalist in the same category in 2004.

Charmaine performs with utter conviction and already has a distinctive sound, comprised of lyrical melodies synergized with idiosyncratic rhythmic diversity. 

The Tauranga International Jazz Festival commissioned Charmaine to write a new work, which was premiered at her headline concert, Easter 2009. This was the first work to be commissioned in the 47-year history of the Festival.

Charmaine has played piano professionally since her mid teens and has been composing since the age of six.

Ford has performed extensively throughout New Zealand and has appeared on National Television several times. She has been invited to play at many of New Zealand’s international jazz festivals, as well as being invited to tour Australia (Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney) with her trio, which included a performance at the ‘2004 Melbourne Women’s International Jazz Festival’.

Charmaine’s versatility extends into music education; an area she is passionate about. Ford has a Bachelor of Music and has taught at the New Zealand School Of Music (Massey University), in Wellington. She has been invited to teach and run Masterclasses all around New Zealand. Charmaine is also in demand as an educator, performer and session musician in Sydney, Australia, where she is now based.

In addition to her staggering list of achievements, Charmaine appears on over 20 album recordings covering a wide variety of genres.

Furthermore she is part of a collaborative project called the ‘Ford/Tipping/Wise Trio’ who have released two albums (‘Live at Sandwiches’ and ‘After The Last Dance’).

At only 31yrs, Charmaine Ford has an exciting future ahead of her.

Greg Griffiths has a performance background of over 25 years as a bass player/backing vocalist, predominantly as a on-call musician with sydney based rock, blues and funk bands.

“Griff” currently plays with blues guitarist ‘Matt Roberts’ trio, northern beaches soul-funk band ‘United Notions’, function band ‘the Baker Boys’ and country artist ‘Kate Lush.’

Greg has a wealth of church-based experience, having played with numerous Christian and Worship bands such as:

• Belvedere Blues Band
• Youth Alive band ’97-’99
• ‘live at the caffe’ big band
• ACMS Cooma – rhythm section workshops
• Gymea Baptist worship team
• Shire Christian Centre (Shire Live) worship team
• Christian City Church (C3) Oxford Falls worship team

From 2009 to 2011, Griff was a part of band development workshops that were held in churches in QLD and Victoria with ‘Mick Sykes and the Forgiven’ band.
